Pre-Shipped Behaviors

by Jon (Updated on 2014-04-23)

What are Pre-Shipped Behaviors?

We've shipped several dozen of the most common and useful behaviors. Why? Because it's no fun reinventing the wheel or foraging around on StencylForge when you could get the "real" thing straight from the source.

To find them, just begin attaching a behavior to an Actor or Scene like you'd normally do. Then, pick something from the "From Your Library" section.

Who wrote them?

A veteran community member wrote the vast majority of them under our guidance.

If something goes awry with the behaviors, reach out through this forum topic (please do not private message them).

What's currently available?

(Names may slightly differ in practice. Some behaviors may have shifted around between 2.0 and 3.0 and beyond.)

Controls (captaincomic)

  • 2/4/8 Way Motion
  • Asteroids Motion
  • Follow the Mouse
  • Face the Mouse
  • Simple Jump & Run Controller
  • Fire Weapon w/Bullet Limiter
  • Shoot Around the Block
  • Drag and Drop

Motion (captaincomic)

  • Circular Motion
  • Wave Motion
  • Back and Forth
  • Wander
  • Bounce off Wall
  • Follow Target
  • Follow Path
  • Face Direction of Motion
  • Don't Exit Screen
  • Wrap Around Screen
  • Starting / Random Starting Velocity

GUI (Miasmos)

  • Three State Button
  • Effect on Mouse Over
  • Die on Click

Utilities (captaincomic)

  • Game Debugger
  • Draw Terrain
  • Video Player
  • Social Media Helper
  • Donate
  • Hide Mouse Cursor

Can I suggest some behaviors?

Sure! Tell us on the forums. Please don't suggest them here - we'll miss it. Thanks!

Can I disable the drag and drop behavior once an actor is inside a region? I want the actor to stay there trapped until the scene ends.

Installed 2.0. Using 2.0. Went to actor > add behavior > pick something from the "From Your Library" section not there. No new behaviors. No new options. Help -_-

Just incase anyone else is an real beginner like me and had no idea where to find them I'll help you out.

Go into the character you're using, click on behaviors up the top, then down the bottom left is "add behavior" where you'll find them.

Yes to both questions. The video player behavior can be found in the library for Scenes.
