Who are we?
Stencyl, LLC is a company with one simple goal - to make game creation easier and more fun. We want to democratize game creation and make it accessible to more people.
Stencyl, LLC was co-founded in January 2008 by Jonathan and Stephen. Jonathan is in charge of creating Stencyl's engine, tools and website design while Stephen is responsible for programming the website. We've also got a few dozen devotees, who are privately testing our software and helping us run the community.
We're currently a self-funded venture; we haven't taken in any outside investments yet.
We're going to keep quiet for a few months more while we complete our work, but once we're done, we'll announce it publicly and begin our beta program.
Meet the Founders
Jonathan
Jonathan is the founder of Stencyl, LLC. He is an entrepreneur, a programmer and an artist all at the same time. Being a programmer at heart, Jonathan leads the development effort, but he also has a knack for visual design and enjoys designing websites and interfaces in his free time.
Having dabbled in game development for several years, Jonathan desires to make game creation easier and more accessible to all and founded Stencyl along with Stephen to realize this vision.
Stephen
Stephen is the co-founder of Stencyl, LLC. Combining his skills as a manager and a programmer, he leads the web side of Stencyl and leads the day-to-day operations of Stencyl's websites while planning for the future. He enjoys the intricacies of programming for thousands of users and works closely with Jon to ensure the success of Stencyl's online components.
Stephen is a firm believer that games have the power to unleash the creativity of users, and believes that gaming is the next frontier in digital media creation. He is proud to be the other half of Stencyl's founders.
