Description
This is my Bio project for 10th grade.
The process of mitosis begins with
Interphase
This is the stage a cell spends most of its time in. it is trying to support its basic needs to survive. It is also duplicating its DNA to prepare for mitosis. The DNA begins to condense into chromosomes (red).
Prophase
The Nucleic walls (purple) begin to dissolve, this is when the chromosomes are first visible. The Centrioles (green) begin to grow spindles (pink).
Metaphase
The spindles attach themselves to the center of the chromosomes and begin to line them up in the center at the equatorial plate.
Anaphase
The spindles shorten and pull the chromosomes apart into sister chromosomes
Telophase
the nuclear walls begin to reform around the sister chromosomes. The spindles begin to disintigrate.
Cytokinasis
The cell is pinched into two, each one genetically similar.
