Absolutely brilliant. The graphics in my opinion are spot on and intuitive, the music is absolutely solid (what program did you use to make the music, btw?), and the gameplay, while difficult at times, is intuitive and engaging. Well done, good sir!

Very fun, and somewhat addicting in the difficult zones. Can't wait until the full version comes out.

Loved it. I rage quit once, but after stressing enough times through difficult spots, it was fun. It /could/ do with more checkpoints, but on the same token, the lack of save points made it that more challenging, and thus, more entertaining.
Also, I don't know where people get off by thinking that suddenly ALL 8-bit platformer shooters now based off of Cave Story. Cave Story didn't invent the genre, people.
All in all, good job! Can't wait to play the full version.

Reminds me of Cave Story, so much that I'm guessing it's intentional.
I think you could go with either slightly darker and less saturated graphics, or more textured graphics. This is especially true for the outside area.
The lack of inertia gave me huge troubles on the first jump until I realized what was up. I'm still not sure what I think about it. I also noticed the lack of save points, but I'm not sure it's a bad thing. Once you've taken a jump once, it's usually easy to do it again anyways.

Very slick. Could do with slightly more save points, it's a bit rock hard at the moment. But really compulsive old-school gameplay. I lost patience with the boss, I'm afraid.
