Translating Stencyl

by Jon (Updated on 2015-10-11)

Current Status: At this time, we are not accepting translations and have temporarily taken down our online translation tool due to technical issues. All work has been preserved, and down the road, we'd like to reintroduce it.

Check our Translation Tool (Currently Offline)

Stencyl has been partially or fully translated to quite a few languages already. Check our web-based translation tool out to check on the status of each translation and begin participating in the translation process.

Open the Tool

If you're interested in translating, all you need to do is use the translation tool. Chances are good that the translation is already partially done. Your task is to fill in the missing phrases and vote existing phrases up/down. Together, you and others can collectively come up with a full transltion.

How do make Stencyl use the latest translations?

Go to Preferences and click the Update Language Packs button. This will pull down the latest materials from the translation tool. This is only useful for those who are actively involved in translation. Regular users will pick up translations whenever they update/download Stencyl.

We don't support right-to-left languages such as Arabic. However, we have a partial translation to Arabic that will be useful when we're able to support it.

"Open the Tool" leads to nowhere - when will the translation tool be available again?

Do you have any idea of when the translation tool will be available again? I have several eager students in Denmark who would like to have Stencyl in danish.

Hi WiserGAMER. We've just introduced a web-based translation tool for making translations come about much quicker.

Although we don't support RTL yet (it's a ton of work), we already have a partial Arabic translation that you may be interested in completing, so that when the time comes to support RTL, you will be able to enjoy it immediately.

I was hurrying up to translate Stencyl but I took an arrow to the knee when I read the limitations ... please make it available soon. We will help you translate into Arabic as soon as you remove these limitations.

Frankly, I'm not interested in the localization of the application SW (I would only translate manuals, training manuals and reference materials). Because it is often confusion with the terminology when communicating users from different countries, or when you read the manual in English. I have some problems with the HelpCenter (it does not like some languages).
If you change the font in the headers "StencylFont" (file help.css) to a different font (Verdana), HelpCenter displays all foreign characters correctly. But when you choose to link to a page with a foreign (Russian) letters, HelpCenter refuses to display this page immediately. You need to click "back", then "forward" and only then translated page is displayed.
I do not know how to solve this problem. Can someone give advice?
