I think the tutorial could be improved by explaining motive for the actions being done. Perhaps explaining what is contributing to the lag and what the 42 steps are doing. I didn't read everything just skimmed through and it looks like you're basically manually implementing the features you need opposed to leaving it to the engine. Correct me if I'm wrong.
