Abigayl's Interactive Tutorials (Part 1)

by Joe (Updated on 2012-07-21)

Tutorial 1 - The Basics

  • Game Center is now Dashboard
  • No longer need to make Actor Behaviors; can use "Events" tab instead
  • Now need to use "Add an Event" at the top left to make the headings
  • If using events, do not need to "Attach to Actor" (still needed with Behaviors though)
  • Collisions Groups are now in the Settings button at the top of the page
  • Collisions between Actors are now handled by collision events (use "Member of Group" and change the group to "Actors")

That is a slightly more complicated issue, so I didn't want to cover it in the basic tutorial. I am hoping to cover it in #5, which I hope to make soon :)

Ja, did you remember to attach to actor and that your controls are in the "always" coding?

If you still cannot figure it out, please feel free to join the livestream or send me a PM (preferably on Kongregate) with a picture of your coding and I will try to give some more specific help.

Abigayl, I followed all of the instructions, but I cannot get my actor to move. I did all of the programing that was in you tutorial, but my actor doesn't respond to my keyboard input. Could you help me figure this out?
